Child Support

Prognosticator allows easy calculation of child support payments using the appropriate formula as specified in the Michigan Child Support Guidelines. Recommendations adjust for time with each parent, or third party custody arrangements. The Uniform Child Support Order is incorporated into the program. For 2017, the claimant income factor has been adjusted for cost of living increases.

Adjustments may be made under the guidelines for other child support orders, additional children, and qualifying stepchildren as allowed by the formula. Social Security benefits received by the children are also considered and child care tax credit is figured using the sliding scale based on the party’s income and time with each child.

Prognosticator 2017 also prepares recommendations for alimony using the revised alimony guidelines as explained in the August-September 1990 issue of the Michigan Family Law Journal, adjusted for cost of living changes.
